This course focuses on the use of English as a method of communication within an academic environment. It integrates listening, speaking, reading, and writing with grammar and vocabulary instruction to gain academic language. By the end of the course, students will be able to write and speak in a variety of academic circumstances, including formal presentations and essay, in-class discussions, reflections, and other necessities for university life.
The course is divided into topics that serve to drive the development of overarching skills. The first topic covered is architecture. At the end of the unit, students will create a persuasive presentation and a persuasive essay to support their own viewpoint related to an issue we have covered during the unit.
